Bulletins were sent giving updates on the situation in San Francisco. This one reads "Bulletin - 7:45 PM New York Time - Everything south of Market Street to 23rd gone except the Mint and fire still burning. Post office damaged by shock and slightly by fire. Everything north of Mission Street entirely gone up to Van Ness Ave and past Van Ness west of Golden Gate Ave up to Octavia St. Chinatown wiped out also. Nob Hill fire has crossed Van Ness east of Union leaving only ruin in its wake. Nothing left in bus

All but one of the Leland Stanford Jr. University (buildings?) at Palo Alto are in ruins together with the Memorial Church. One student known to have been killed. While San Jose, Sacramento, Berkeley, Alameda and other points heard from suffered severely, no loss of life is reported. Motion of the vibrations was from east to west. The Chronicle, Call and telephone buildings are destroyed. Troop

"Bulletin - To Ft. Smith Ark. All but one of the Leland Stanford Jr. University (buildings?) at Palo Alto are in ruins together with the Memorial Church. One student known to have been killed.
